Great memories of the baths, we were reared up in it during the summer months, my earliest memory was when I nearly drowned in the middle pool & my mam was nowhere to be found, when the lifeguard Collie (Gollie?) pulled me out, as she ran out the gate with fright. After that she would say to me ‘if it wasn’t for him, you wouldn’t be here now’.

I could never make out her tone of voice when she said that.
